Privacy Policy

Knoito ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal relationship management app for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Knoito accesses, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data We Collect
Knoito stores data that you create within the app:
- People and relationships you add
- Promises, notes, and observations you record
- Tags, memories, and organizational context you create
- Meeting intelligence and debrief notes
We do not collect analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or any usage data. There are no third-party SDKs, trackers, or advertising frameworks in Knoito.
2. Calendar Access
Knoito requests read-only access to your device calendar via Apple's EventKit framework. This is used to:
- Display your upcoming meetings in the Today tab
- Generate Lightning Briefs before meetings
- Link meeting context to people in your network
Knoito never modifies, creates, or deletes calendar events. Calendar data is read at display time and is not permanently stored — the calendar remains the source of truth for your schedule.
3. Data Storage
All data you create in Knoito is stored in two places:
- On your device — using Apple's Core Data framework, stored locally on your iPhone or iPad
- In your private iCloud account — using Apple's CloudKit Private Database for sync across your devices
The CloudKit Private Database is encrypted and accessible only to you through your Apple ID. We have no ability to access, read, or decrypt your data. Apple's infrastructure handles encryption in transit and at rest.
4. Data We Never Collect
To be explicit, Knoito does not:
- Send any data to our servers (we don't have user data servers)
- Use third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Include advertising frameworks or ad tracking
- Collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
- Access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
- Share or sell data to any third party
5. Data Sharing
We never share your data with anyone. Your data exists only on your device and in your personal iCloud account. There are no server-side components under our control that store user data.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
You have full control over your data:
- Delete the app — removes all local data from your device
- Delete iCloud data — go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage > Knoito to remove synced data
- Delete individual records — remove specific people, promises, or notes from within the app at any time
Deleted records are soft-deleted and permanently purged after 30 days to allow for sync consistency across your devices.
7. Children's Privacy
Knoito is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Since all data is stored locally and in your private iCloud, there is no data collection mechanism that could involve children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
